The NRLNT is the peak sporting body for rugby league in the Northern Territory. 

The competition encompasses all ages, male and female and includes wheelchair rugby league. 

Local leagues exist in Darwin, Central Australia, Katherine and Gove. 

Competition is played in the NT's dry season and aligns with the southern winter season.

NRLNT also has a close affiliation with the Dolphins in the national NRL competition. The Dolphins regularly visit communities, deliver youth development camps and provide coaches and officials training across the NT.
